Governor kills PR for Bay Bridge project The governor’s office has killed a $9.8 million communication contract with the PR firm for the Bay Bridge construction project, worrying the tremendous cost would look improper weeks after voters approved new taxes for the cash-strapped state. The 3-year communications contract with the company Words Pictures Ideas would have kept the key face of the Bay Bridge project. Bart Ney started as a Caltrans consultant in 1997 and first landed the role as the project’s primary spokesman eight years ago.
